Climate, Health and Formalities

Senegal is one of the sunniest countries in the world,
with more than 3,000 hours of sunshine per year.

The heat is generally mild and the nights are cool from November to March

  • July - September

    Rainy Season

Temperatures reach 30°C, with significant rainfall across the country.

The wintering — or rainy season — is considered by many to be Senegal's most beautiful season: vegetation reborn, storms and stunning colours, a very warm sea…

It's worth noting, however, that insect populations grow significantly, especially in September and October, with warmer and more humid nights.

  • October - June

    Dry Season

Temperatures between 22°C and 30°C, with significant variation between the coast and the interior.

The nights and mornings are cool, and so is the ocean temperature.

In Dakar, average daytime highs are 24°C from January to March and 25–27°C in April, May and December.

Health

For yellow fever, vaccination is not mandatory and the region where the lodge is located is not a risk area.

For malaria: from November to July there are fewer mosquitoes than during the rainy season. Mosquito nets and repellent are enough to stay protected.

However, after 6 pm, it is strongly recommended to cover your arms and legs.
